Give Me My Remote Video Mailbag

Members of Team StarKid answer fan questions as part of the GiveMeMyRemote.com video mailbag. These are really fun, I am glad I accidentally found them!

What would you name the autobiography of your life?

What do you wish you could tell your high school self?

What job would you have on Bug World?

In the zombie apocalypse, which member of Team StarKid would be eaten first?

If you could have one mythical creature exist in real life, what would it be?

StarKid’s Albain taking quite a tour

Team StarKid seems to be making rounds in the school newspaper circuit! Here is a lengthy interview with Julia Albain published in The Watertown Splash, the newspaper for Watertown Middle School from Watertown, MA.

“The other part of the story that I think slips by sometimes is that [the tour] is so DIY. We’ve completely self-produced, and planned, and booked, and routed this tour, and we’re just a group of 25-year-olds. It’s a gamble. You’re putting your company’s name and work, but it’s a gamble financially because we don’t have any type of big production house or backing or that sort of thing.”

StarKid: From ‘A Very Potter Musical’ to Apocalyptour

The Boston Globe published an article by John Vitti about Team StarKid’s inception and rise to fame. The article includes interviews with a number of cast members including Boston-native Joe Walker, plus Darren Criss and Julia Albain.

“People always say, ‘Darren, good move with the first musical being a Potter video and targeting an already large fan base on a new medium like YouTube. Smart move,’ ” Criss says. “And I’m like, ‘I’m not that smart!’ Never in a million years would I have strategized that bizarre plan.’’

StarKid takes on the Dark Knight

Holy Musical B@man was reviewed by a student newspaper in Miami, FL! Suzanne Pontillo gives her take on Team StarKid’s latest production in The Viper Vibe, the school paper for Felix Varela Senior High School:

“The thing that makes this Starkid musical different from the others is not only the music but the fact that everyone, minus Joe Walker, plays at least three characters and the costume changes are plentiful and ridiculously fast. Along with the impressive costume changes, the costumes themselves are amazing, but don’t expect to see the usual character shoes; everyone in the show wears converse. Holy Musical B@man! is two hours long and filled with catchy songs, clever jokes and men in spandex so they quickly fly by.”

You know you’ve made it big when there is an article about you in an obscure school newspaper, right? Read the review in its entirety HERE.

Charlene Kaye in Singapore newspaper

Unfortunately I don’t know the name of the [supposedly] Singaporean newspaper or magazine that this article was printed in (this is what happens when you get your tips from Twitter!), but if you can manage to read the tiny words it is a pretty good article about Charlene. She talks about how she got started in music, how she met Darren Criss and Team StarKid, and how she finances her indie music career.

Ali Gordon – Joey Is a Punk Rocker

Came across a great video of Ali Gordon (Vanessa in Me and My Dick) performing for Broadway Sessions at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in NYC last week. Cute song too!

Tuesday Twitter Round-Up

Every Tuesday I will be rounding up notable StarKid tweets from the past week.

First up, StarKid alum Bonnie Gruesen made an important announcement:

Bonnie’s engagement ring

The national tour of Young Frankenstein, starring our very own A.J. Holmes, performed its final show last week (hopefully freeing A.J. up for more work with Team Starkid?! *fingerscrossed*):

Ann Arbor T-Shirt Company, which provides all of the StarKid merchandise, is trying to win a grant to expand the shoe printing part of their business. You can help them by going to MissionSmallBusiness.com and voting for them. You know you want to see Team StarKid shoes for sale!

Meanwhile, the Apocalyptour seems to be carrying on quite well as the team heads East across the country. First stop was Denver, where there were some sort of onstage shenanigans:

I would pay to see some good video of the above mishap! Meredith Stepien picked up a new tattoo in Denver as well:

Meredith’s new birds

Next Apocalyptour stop, Wal-Mart at 2am:

More fun and dance parties in Kansas City:

Team StarKid reunited with many alumni and friends in both St. Louis and their “hometown” of Ann Arbor:

UMich class of 2009 in St. Louis!

All of the StarKids were thrilled to be back in Ann Arbor:

Jaime and Jim before the Ann Arbor show!

Awww! Thank you Ann Arbor and UMich for bringing together this amazing group of friends to provide us all with endless music, laughter, and entertainment.

In other news, Elona Finlay of Little White Lie fame is currently hosting a Q&A on her Facebook page if you are interested:

Joe Moses is teasing us about an upcoming project:

Charlene Kaye has announced additional tour dates later this summer:

And last but not least, Darren Criss will be performing for the President of the United States this Wednesday at an LGBT fundraising gala! Apparently Pink was supposed to perform, but came down with the stomach flu:

Wow! Way to go Darren 🙂
